Onoa Interior Design

Scroll

Everything begins with the place.

We start with its light, the grain of its materials, and the way people move through it before anyone tells them how.

We are a Mexican interior design studio headquartered in Los Cabos, working across hospitality and high-end residential, with the capacity to develop projects anywhere in the world.

Regina Segura, Managing Director of Onoa Interior Design in Los Cabos

Design that still shows the hand that made it. Local craft, in a contemporary language.

About the studio

Hospitality

A hotel room is not a bedroom.

It gets built a hundred times over, cleaned every morning, and it has to still look new in its eighth year. That changes how we draw, what we specify, and who we call to make it.

Every decision multiplies by the key count. A fabric that costs a little more per metre becomes a different budget across 180 rooms. Housekeeping has to be able to turn the room in the time the operator allows, and a bed that is awkward to move makes the room late every single day. Finishes have to survive suitcases.

So we design to satisfy two things at once: the operator's manual, and the guest's first thirty seconds. And we specify so that whatever wears out can be replaced in year six without redesigning the room.

Regina worked on Thompson Puerto Vallarta, SLS Cancun, the beachfront casitas at Four Seasons Costa Palmas and Montage Los Cabos before Onoa. That part of the job is not something you can learn on a residential project.

Most projects reach us long before there is a plan. A conversation is enough to start.

How we work

One

Conceptual

Who the guest is, what the operator has promised them, and what the site is already saying. Context, look and feel, the concept.

Two

Schematic

The plan, furnished. Guestrooms, public areas and back of house. Finishes, lighting, and the options worth arguing about while arguing is still cheap.

Three

Design development

Documented drawings, physical samples to sign off, and a sheet for every piece the purchasing team will buy from.
